Pisces Theme 2020: Head and Heart Integration
There's a lot going on in Pisces right now, and the message it's sending is to learn to balance the head and the heart.
Sunday marked a New Moon in Pisces, and right now the Sun and Mercury are conjunct (next to each other) in Pisces while Mercury retrogrades toward Aquarius.
In astrology the Moon rules the emotions; Mercury rules the intellect/expression; and the Sun rules our individual self (read: ego). All of this happening in intuitive, sensitive Pisces is causing a conversation about what it means to truly think, communicate, and care.
Now is a moment when reflection is key: how do you accurately express what is in your heart? How can you put into words those wordless truths you intuit? What is the relationship between your ego, your head, and your heart? Do you either favor one or suppress one?
Lucky for you, Mercury's retrograde toward Aquarius is the perfect moment to call in the rational, emotional truth of the matter. Spend some time with yourself and see what you uncover.
This week's AstroYoga pose calls in the balance and strength of the Pisces-ruled area of the body.
ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK
Practice Toe Stand pose (Padangusthasana)
To practice this pose:
1. Kneel on both knees
2. Tuck your toes under and shift weight into your feet
3. Lift your knees
4. Bring hands together in Anjali Mudra in front of the heart
5. Stay, balance, and breathe
PRO TIP
Take this into toe smashing posture by lowering the knees and sitting on the heels. You'll notice that sensation arises from your feet, and it may seem incredibly intense.
Explore what it feels like to release sensation from the feet and to breathe into what arises. As long as it feels like sensation (and not sharp pain or something indicating a bone or structural injury), breathe into any discomfort.
What is being released? What remains?
My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.
