Big Shifts in the Stars
A lot is shifting in the stars right now: Mercury has entered retrograde, Venus is in Sagittarius, and Jupiter is finishing his final few weeks in his Zodiac home of Sagittarius.
But what does all of this mean?
This Sagittarius/Scorpio energy hybrid in the sky is whispering that in order to deeply understand all things (or anything), you must fist deeply understand yourself.
Mercury retrograding in Scorpio invites deep inquiry into your shadow emotions, while Venus and Jupiter in Sagittarius remind you that beauty, elegance, understanding, and playfulness abide even in the midst of shadow times.
The AstroYoga pose of the week aligns the areas of the body ruled by Scorpio and Sagittarius while placing the chakras well in space.
ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK
Practice Revolving Head to Knee Pose (Parivrtta Janu Sirsasana)
To practice this pose:
1. From sitting, lengthen the right leg and bend the left knee so that the foot moves toward the groin
2. Turn your right shoulder toward your right leg
3. Lift your left arm and lengthen your side
4. Broaden your chest and breathe
5. Stay for some time
6. Repeat on the other side
PRO TIP
Engage your bandhas here! If you're used to this practice, engage maha bandha. If you're new, simply cultivate inner engagement in the pelvic floor. It will feel like an inner lift that draws your tail, pubic, and sitz bones together.
How does breathing while engaging the bandha(s) alter your experience of the pose?
My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.
