Floating in the Ocean of Consciousness
There's a metaphor in yoga that we're all floating in the sea of consciousness. It has many esoteric meanings, but one simple realization is that we're all connected by conscious energy and that we are not stagnant, but are pushed and pulled by the tides, currents, and waves we align with.
This is huge this week. As the transits continue, it's time to tap into your fullest self and align every single part of you (even those parts you sometimes want to push aside) with the current of passion, love, and emotional truth.
In our culture today, passion, love, and emotional truth are sometimes misconstrued as simply romantic topics. While they have an application there, the deeper truth in these topics can point you toward your own truest nature. Their deeper truths can show you your path forward. Their deeper truths can inspire your most heartfelt actions.
What's sparking this? Yesterday, Mercury moved into Pisces; Friday, Venus moves into Aries; and Sunday is a full moon in Leo. These transits will affect each chart in a specific way, but for everyone: align with your truest will. Listen inward, and allow your fullest form to emerge.
This week's AstroYoga pose draws all these subtle body areas together and aligns with the flow of consciousness, like a tree bending in the wind.
ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK
Practice Tree Pose variation (Vriksasana)
To practice this pose:
1. From standing, shift weight into your left foot and pick your right leg up
2. Bend your right knee and place your foot on your left calf or thigh (but not the knee joint)
3. Draw your arms wide
4. Stay, balance, and breathe
5. Repeat on the other side
PRO TIP
Embrace the paradox of simultaneously hugging into your midline (sushumna nadi) and expanding out, up, down, and in all directions.
Can you live, breathe, and grow in a place of balance? Can you invite ease and expansiveness into your life though deep breaths in this posture?
Do you always put in your best effort? Try a little less. Are you craving a little more rigor and structure in life? Try a little more.
My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.
