Mars in Scorpio, Mercury Retrograde, and Your AstroYoga Forecast for 11/19/19

Goodbye, Mercury Retrograde; Hello, Mars in Scorpio!

Today, Mars moves into Scorpio, one of his favored places in the zodiac, and tomorrow, Mercury turns direct. This is a big shift in the energy of this Scorpio Season.

If you find Scorpio's deep, intense energy comforting (finally everyone is facing how they really feel), then this energy shift might feel great to you. But if you're one to shy away from confrontation (or to choose it selectively), this might feel like an unwelcome burst of intensity.

Whether you naturally enjoy this sort of energy or not, I suggest taking a few deep breaths to create a container for whatever you experience. Your reality isn't something to either force or avoid. Your reality simply is, and your only job is to experience it as you are.

With energy like this, avoid labels like 'good' or 'bad' and simply abide as you are.

The AstroYoga pose of the week opens the body and creates extension from the area of the body ruled by Scorpio.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Compass Pose (Parivrtta Surya Yantrasana)

To practice this pose:

1. From sitting, bend the right knee so the foot draws toward the pelvis
2. Bend your left knee into your chest and use your right hand (or a strap) to clasp the outer edge of your left foot
3. Straighten your left knee any amount, drawing your arm over and behind the head
4. Breathe fluidly
5. Repeat on the other side

PRO TIP

Go into this posture slowly, and not too deeply. If you feel your hips, hamstrings, or knees straining, back out of the posture a bit. Instead of depth, favor lengthening the amount of time you can sustain the posture. How does it feel to take ten deep breaths? Twenty?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.
