The Aquarius Blue Moon 2021

This is the final week of Leo season, which will culminate with a blue moon in Aquarius.

This full moon is special because it is the second full moon in Aquarius this year and because it's conjunct retrograding Jupiter.

This full moon is asking you to truly take stock of how you allowed light to shine in and shine out of your life this month.

In what ways have you opened yourself to receiving gifts, bounty, and good energy recently?

In what ways have you opened yourself to taking higher perspectives and longer views of your vision for life?

In what ways have you opened yourself to giving a little more, trusting a little more, and offering your true gifts out in the world?

This moon is a moment to let the light flow with even more potency. It's a reminder that life is found in the most mundane moments and that your story is written in the moments you open fully to your beautiful vision for life.

This week's AstroYoga pose opens the heart to both give and receive more light.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice puppy pose (Uttana Shishosana)

To practice this pose:

1. Come to table top position (hands and knees)
2. Walk the hands forward and begin melting the heart toward the earth
3. Either keep the torso away from the floor, rest the forehead on the floor, or place the chest and chin on the floor (according to your comfort and flexibility)
4. If the chest and chin touch the mat comfortably, you may lift your knees
5. Stay and breathe

PRO TIP

Allow the lower back and hips to widen as you enter this back bend. Allow the backbend to take place more in the upper back. This is a great posture to begin to open the more fixed vertebrae in the upper thoracic spine, so give yourself time and space here to allow them to open!

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

The Lion's Gate Portal 2021

The Lion's Gate Portal is now open.

This portal is a yearly event that brings a reason to celebrate as the Earth and Sun align with the soul-star Sirius to bring greater light and consciousness into your body, mind, and spirit.

The Lion's Gate will peak on Sunday 8/8, which is also the new moon in Leo.

In the body, Leo corresponds with the heart, and relates to the Ajna chakra (3rd eye area). This configuration represents the fiery seat of inspiration that is found through the unity of mind, intuition, and heart. When these three are united within you, you become an unstoppable force.

My suggestions for navigating the Lion's Gate:

1. Consider any inner conflicts between your mind and heart. What is at their root? Is there a way for inner paradox to return to nuanced inner unity?

2. Surrender any inner attachments to identities, tasks, or beliefs that feel disjointed with your heart and mind--this is a sure way to tell that they were never yours to begin with.

3. Open to the possibility of more goodness than you have yet been able to imagine. Open to the gifts that are coming your way, and choose to align with the energy of peace, joy, and hope.

What is it you've been wishing for? Now is the time to repeat your heartfelt desire to yourself and watch it become manifest as you engage with your soul-created life.

This week's AstroYoga pose is here to open the Lion's Gate portal of the body.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

IMG_3216.jpeg

Practice One-Legged Backbend (Eka Pada Urdhva Dhanurasana)

To practice this pose:

1. Lie on your back
2. Place your feet near your bottom and your hands near your ears
3. Press into a full backbend
4. Shift weight out of one foot and come onto the toes
5. Bend the knee into the torso and slowly straighten the leg
6. Stay and breathe

PRO TIP

Notice where your comfort zone meets your expansion zone. You may be used to lifting a leg, and so you can work on lifting it higher, or perhaps lifting a hand as well.

Or, you may be getting used to lifting a leg, so perhaps moving to your tip toe is enough, or lifting a leg in bridge instead of wheel.

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

Venus-Mars Conjunction 2021: Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

This is the week of the Venus/Mars conjunction in Leo. Venus represents all that is beautiful, desirable, and pleasurable in your psyche and world; Mars represents the single-pointed drive to move toward that which Venus represents, no matter what obstacles stand in the way.

These two are meeting after a Mercury/Jupiter trine, which may have stirred the depths of your emotions into expression.

With thoughts and feelings being aired, now is the perfect moment to draw upon the energy of Venus and Mars in Leo. This conjunction is a reminder that no matter what you feel for others or what you want externally, you are ruled by the inner fire of your heart, which can never lead you astray.

Venus and Mars in Leo remind you to go for what you love, and to release the thoughts and emotions you have about what others think about you. Simultaneously, you may recognize that when you truly act according to your heart, the judgements you have about others also begin to soften and release.

My suggestions for this week:

1. Take some time to listen to the roar of your heart. What is it you truly want that originates from this sacred zone?

2. Take some time to listen to the chatter of the mind. What is it that exists here that doesn't originate from you? What judgements (including self-judgements), beliefs, or attitudes are ready to release in order to align the mind with the heart's fire?

This week's AstroYoga pose opens the heart and strengthens the body to safely open to what is truly meant for you.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Ustrasana (Camel Pose)

IMG_3214.jpeg

To practice this pose:

1. Kneel with both knees on the ground
2. Lift the heart toward the sky with the hands on the low back
3. Begin to curl the upper spine, while keeping the thighs pressing forward
4. Lower the hands to blocks, the feet, or the floor

PRO TIP

Try tucking the chin in and keeping the back of the neck long to strengthen the front of the neck (especially if your have some Taurus in your chart). This is also good to do if you're still strengthening the neck and don't want to drop the head back (you'll know this is you if lowering the head back lacks control at any point). Bonus, this will strengthen the neck for all sorts of other poses!

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

2021's Most Powerful New Moon Plus Venus/Mars Conjunction T Square

The energy is ready for a fresh reset this week, as we collectively face two powerful formations.

The first is an energetic surge from a Venus-Mars conjunction forming what's known as a T Square with Saturn and Uranus. The second is the most potent new moon of the year: the Cancer New Moon.

What you can expect: tensions at this time are high as you negotiate the semi-paradoxical urges for freedom, release, protection, passion, self-direction, surrender, and love.

You may find yourself wondering how you can have your needs met in these areas while simultaneously continuing on your road to self-mastery and identification with your highest self.

The new moon in Cancer swoops in to whisper to you that it is, in fact, quite possible to reconcile these urges and to find yourself with all you desire and more.

This week, you're invited to formulate a picture of what it would look like to be in a state where freedom and boundaries complemented each other, and where actions and passion always aligned with love in its highest form.

On Friday, the new moon offers you a moment to set your intention to make your highest vision your true reality. This intention will manifest, provided the sentiment behind it is one of intuition, love, and care. The Cancer New Moon can see through any intentions set merely for the sake of power or avoidance, but any lunar aspirations set with the heart's true fire will be honored and fulfilled.

This week's AstroYoga pose offers stability and freedom for these energies to flow through the body.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Low Lunge (Anjaneyasana)

To practice this pose:

1. Lunge the right foot forward and lower the left knee to the earth
2. Lift your torso and arms toward the sky
3. Engage your shoulder blades on the back and lift the heart, broadening the chest
4. Breathe fluidly
5. Repeat on the other side

PRO TIP

Find the place between stability and expansion--this is the point of radical alchemy in the body, the place where your desires manifest. Can you stay in this place for several breaths? What do you notice?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

Cancer Season 2021 and the Waves of Your Present State

Last week was filled with powerful energy shifts that collectively moved us out of the lingering shifts from eclipse season and into the heart of summer.

A six month cycle has completed, and now you might be finding yourself in a new situation with new energy surrounding you. Whether your circumstances, companions, or internal landscape has changed, the message is similar: it's time to settle into your new home.

Cancer season reminds you that your home is always with you, since you carry it within you. In a sense, this season is about creating space for you to settle into the energetic spaces you inhabit: those feelings, states of consciousness, and physical spaces that make up YOU.

Take time to recognize how life has shifted for you in the last six months. In what ways have you healed, grown, or shifted? In what directions do your thoughts and feelings aim? How is your experience of yourself the same or different?

This week's AstroYoga pose offers stability and strength as you abide in the spaces of your truest self.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Boat Pose (Navasana)

To practice this pose:

1. Sit on your bottom
2. Bend your knees and lift your legs, holding behind the knees until you balance
3. Release your hands forward
4. Either straighten your legs or leave them bent
5. Stay and breathe

PRO TIP

True Cancerian mastery in the physical body means placing the heart, chest, and belly well. Can you be both strong and supple? Can you hold yourself up while keeping a connection with the Earth? Can you keep the front and back doors of the heart open so that you can equally nurture and be nurtured?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

Did you know that understanding your chart can help you solve life's major dilemmas?

It's true. Your chart is a map to you, and it shows your tendencies, gifts, and pitfalls. If you find yourself stuck (whether in relationships, finances, career, or your own mental/emotional state), your chart can show you how to activate energy that will align with you to move you into better and better places. I would be happy to help you learn how!

This Solstice-Capricorn Full Moon Week

Welcome to Cancer Season! This Sunday marked the Solstice and Jupiter turning retrograde. Tuesday Mercury turns direct, and Thursday is the full moon in Capricorn.

Are you wondering what this means for you?

Essentially, the energy is now rife with possibility for an inner glow to take hold. This inner glowing encompasses healing old wounds, creating clear visions for the future, and opening to the state in which you find yourself now.

This powerful energy is incredibly beneficial, but it might not feel that way all the time. As old patterns and old blocks begin to release, you may find yourself alternating between mourning the past and wondering what the future may hold.

The answers lie within you. Your chart is the map which shows how to harness beneficial energy and move through difficult energy. And even deeper inside you is something that transcends all of this, even the cosmic patterning of your chart.

This solstice-full moon week is here to help you hold greater states of consciousness, healing, and love than ever before. Allow yourself the space and grace to rest, recharge, and let your flow reenter the world stronger than ever.

This week's AstroYoga pose offers balance, grounding, and opening to help you align these energies within your physical form.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice extended side angle pose (Utthita Parsvakonasana)!

To practice this pose:

1. Take a wide stance with the right toes turned out
2. Bend your right leg
3. Place the right elbow on the right thigh or the right hand on the floor
4. Extend the left arm along the ear
5. Breathe deeply
6. Repeat on the other side

PRO TIP

With each inhale, extend the spine long, and with each exhale, twist your heart more and more skyward. Can you use your breath to determine the depth of the pose rather than moving into the depths of what your physical body allows?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

Eclipse Season's Final Push

It is Gemini and Eclipse Season's final days, and they continue the theme of energetic, physical, and mental shifts right into the Summer Solstice and start of Cancer Season this Sunday.

Yesterday, Uranus and Saturn found their second exact square of the year, which may have you facing your inner state about what is going on in the sometimes chaotic, sometimes rigidly-structured outer world.

The important thing in this transit is remembering that at any given moment, no matter what happens externally, you have a choice.

You can choose your behaviors, thoughts, and opinions, which combine to build you into the person you already are, and the person you're perpetually becoming.

This is step two in a three-step Uranus/Saturn theme in the year. The first was in February, the third will be in December.

This particular time is distinct because Saturn is Retrograde.

What does this mean? It's time to take any friction, chaos, or turmoil that you've been feeling and set some structures in place to help you face it and ultimately work through it. This is true whether these circumstances arise within yourself or via interactions with the outer world.

If you do this, when Jupiter turns Retrograde on the Solstice, you're likely to experience inner expansion, joy, and growth.

I'll send more on this next week, but here's the gist: do the difficult inner work this week, and you're likely to experience feelings of relief, gratitude, and joy that spark the beginning of summer and stay with you all season long.

This week's AstroYoga pose offers strength, grounding, and balance to help you steer your way through the rest of Eclipse/Gemini Season.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

IMG_3995.jpeg

Practice Bending Tree Pose

To practice this pose:

1. From standing, bend your right knee and place your right foot on your inner calf or inner thigh
2. Lift your arms overhead
3. Stay, or tilt your torso forward with a long spine
4. Stay, breathe, and balance
5. Repeat on the other side

PRO TIP

Embrace the paradox of simultaneously hugging into your midline (sushumna nadi) and expanding forward, behind, up, down, and in all directions.

Can you live, breathe, and grow in a place of balance? Can you invite ease and expansiveness into your life though deep breaths in this posture?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

June 10 Solar Eclipse: Two Simple Steps

This Thursday is the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Gemini. Eclipses are moments of great power that serve as portals for the unexpected to arrive in life.

This eclipse is conjunct retrograding Mercury, the planet that rules thought and communication. When Mercury retrogrades, you're asked to open a reflective eye to your own thought and communication patterns.

Even though the results of eclipses are by definition surprising, this eclipse/Mercury conjunct has a distinct energy that you can engage with, and here's my two-part suggestion:

1. Reflect upon what beliefs and thoughts you currently hold.

Pay particular attention to those thoughts and beliefs that seem to have been adopted or absorbed from others around you. Notice the difference between your deeply-held values that originate in your Self and the shallow opinions that might arise out of any number of external sources.

2. Acknowledge your adaptability when it comes to opinions, facts, and gathering new information.

Give yourself a large amount of grace and space to explore new positions, change your mind, or open to beliefs that enhance your life rather than perpetuate old belief systems. This gives you the freedom to adapt, learn, and grow, and the ability to allow others the same on their journeys.

This week's AstroYoga pose offers grounding and power to help you steer your way through this eclipse.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Plank Pose (Kumbhakasana)!

To practice this pose:

1. Start on your hands and knees
2. Lift your knees and extend your body
3. Firm your quads to protect the knees
4. Draw your low front ribs and your upper front pelvis close together

PRO TIP

Press into your hands firmly, especially the base of the pointer finger and the base of the thumb. Feel as if you hands and forearms are magnetized toward one another. Engage your quadriceps muscles to grow light in your stance.

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

Coming Up Tomorrow: An Ask Me Anything session where I'll help you figure out exactly how the eclipses are affecting your life using your personal chart (Plus what to do about it).

Mercury Retrograde and Using this Time

Here's your weekly AstroYoga Forecast:

Welcome to Mercury Retrograde (Rx)!

Mercury Rx has received a bad reputation in recent years due to its connection with technological, travel, and communication mishaps, but its many gifts are often ignored.

You see, in a world where we rely on technology and smooth travel and communication, it can be upsetting when things go haywire.

However, there is a BIG gift in Mercury Rx, and I promise you that the gift is worth the minor inconveniences Mercury Rx brings up.

When a planet retrogrades, its energy is temporarily inverted, allowing for reflection on the nature of that energy itself. When Mercury retrogrades, you have a heightened potential to see the inner workings of how you think, communicate, and move through the world.

Let yourself into your inner world, and temporarily draw your attention away from forward momentum and into intentional reflection.

This retrograde takes place amid the sometimes unsettling shifts of the eclipses, and in my mind, it's a welcome balm in a time when many of us are seeking to integrate abrupt shifts in our lives, relationships, and internal states.

Allow yourself some space this week for honest self-reflection, self-care, and internal listening to the most subtle whispers of your soul.

This week's AstroYoga pose offers strength, balance, and inner fortitude to help with this retrograde.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Side Crow (Parsva Bakasana)!

IMG_2557 2.jpeg

To practice this pose:

1. Start from toe stand
2. Twist to your right and place your hands on the floor to your right
3. Bend your elbows, pressing your knee and hip against your elbows
4. Shift right until you are light on your toes
5. Stay OR lift the feet
6. Repeat on the other side

PRO TIP

Move slowly and broaden your chest as you move through this posture. Let yourself move into your comfort zone and slowly expand from there.

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.

Life's major challenges (career, relationships, finances, personal growth, etc) tend to have repeatable patterns in your life.

Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse May 2021: Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

We are in the midst of eclipse season, and tomorrow is the Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius. This eclipse, along with Mercury turning retrograde on Saturday, is opening a powerful energetic portal.

Eclipses are big moments in which major shifts can happen rapidly. These shifts often alter and align your trajectory for the next six months (or even longer in some cases).

Tomorrow's eclipse is affecting the Sagittarius, Gemini, and Pisces placements in your chart primarily, as the Sun, Moon, and Jupiter form a temporary formation which creates a major shift in terms of how you know what you know.

Ask yourself where you tend to get the variety of thoughts you know as truth. The chances are good that intuition, personal experience, culture, and trusting the word of others (teachers, family, books, media, etc) all play a role.

Tomorrow's eclipse along with Mercury Retrograde offers you the chance to take an even deeper look at thought and truth itself:

Where is it that your thoughts truly originate from? When you're in a flow, artistic, dream, or meditative state, where do your thoughts go?

Prepare to let go of any limited notions, begrudging intellectual commitments, or unenthusiastic duties you've been holding onto. Now is the time to make space for what truly resonates in your body, mind, and soul.

If you do let go of patterning that no longer resonates, you may find yourself experiencing aspects of your life in ways that feel more deeply aligned with your soul's inner truth.

This week's AstroYoga pose offers grounding and support for this eclipse.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

IMG_1312.jpeg

Practice Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I)!

To practice this pose:

1. Stand at the back of your mat
2. Lunge the right foot forward so that the bent knee is just above the ankle
3. Lower the left heel, so that the toes are at a 45 degree angle
4. Lift the arms
5. Stay OR lift the heart to find a slight backbend
6. Repeat on the other side

PRO TIP

Without motion, feel as if you're dragging your feet toward one another. This midline squeeze allows you to safely stretch and lower the hips while simultaneously allowing deep support for any backbend you'd like to add.

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth where there’s unrealized potential.
